About BACCA
The BACCA NGO was started on August 5, 2005 by a small group of local Bagamoyo residents. There are currently six employees and seven board members. We currently operate one pre-school with three classes and 100 students.
Objectives of BACCA:
- To provide education to underprivileged and orphaned children in the local Bagamoyo area
- To follow the curriculum published by the Government of Tanzania for all pre-schools
- To discourage corporal punishment
- To enable our pre-school students to successfully enter the government primary school system
- To provide ongoing support to poor children and orphans who may have long term needs of our services
Short term goals:
- To establish a healthcare fund for the students
- To provide uniforms for the students and teachers
- To conduct annual health check-ups including HIV testing where possible
- To increase the salaries for the teaching staff in line with industry standards
- To establish a healthcare fund for the teachers
- To provide continuing education to the teachers
Long term goals:
- To expand the program to establish and fund more BACCA schools in the Bagamoyo area
- To establish an exchange program that would allow teachers from BACCA schools to teach abroad and teachers abroad to teach in local BACCA schools
