Donations

BACCA is totally dependent on donations made either locally in Tanzania or overseas to fund operations. 

If you wish to make a donation to BACCA, there are two ways in which you can donate directly to us.The easiest way is to log onto www.betterplace.org, find the BACCA Project and pay using you credit card. 100% of the funds you donate will be transferred to BACCA.

Or you can electronic funds transfer your donation directly to our Bank account in Tanzania. When making your donation please send an email to the following address:

This is to inform us of your donation so that we can ensure that the amount is credited and received into our bank account. We will advise you upon receipt of the donation and the amount that we have received. Please note that if possible, can you include an additional amount in your donation to cover the bank fees at your local bank and also at our bank in Tanzania. For most countries, our bank charges a minimum of US$40 per electronic funds transfer.

The following specific donation items are a guide to what BACCA requires on an annual basis:

• Teachers salaries - US$5000
• Daily Student Feeding Program for one month - US$2600
• Monthly salaries for school cooks - US$450
• Annual Health check and ongoing Health Fund - US$400
• Monthly Water Allowance - US$140
• Student Uniforms - US$600

Child Sponsorship

BACCA has over 100 children at its pre-school for whom all expenses are covered. It also continues to pay ongoing annual expenses for those children who pass the Government Primary School Entrance Examination and continue further into the school system. BACCA has two Child Sponsorship Programs - one for the child's pre-school years and one for their ongoing Primary School years.

Because the costs of sending a child to pre-school is different than that of the public primary school, each program has a different sponsorship amount.

Volunteers

If you would like to help BACCA more directly, please come to Bagamoyo as a BACCA Volunteer. You will be hosted with the following provided as part of your Volunteer Program Fee:

• Work visa
• Western style accommodations
• Three meals a day
• Personal Program Host

The program lasts up to one school term (90 days). Your duties will be primarily to act as a teacher's aid at the BACCA pre-school. In addition you will be involved with the children's playtime, games period, beach excursions and daily meal. If appropriate you can assist teachers with learning English and computer skills.

There are a number of local fund raising activities that you can become involved in during your stay as well as working with various BACCA Board Members.

Please note that we generally prefer volunteers who have prior work experience. You do not need to have previous teaching experience to qualify.

You also need to consider that you will be in a country where the culture and environment maybe very different from your own. This can often create issues for some people so please find out as much as you can from us and others so that you are fully prepared.

The cost of sponsoring a child for the full school year at the BACCA pre-school is US$220. You can commence your sponsorship at anytime during the year.

The amount covers the following expenses:

• Teachers salaries
• Daily meal and drinking water
  
• Cook's salary
• Classroom resources
• Security guard salary
• School uniforms

Primary School Child Sponsorship Program

The ongoing cost of sponsoring a BACCA child for the full school year at one of the local public primary schools is US$180. The Tanzanian school year starts in January so please contact us well before the end of the year to arrange your sponsorship of a child about to enter primary school.

The amount covers the following expenses:

• Books
• Pencils & erasers
