"My experience with the children was wonderful. At times it was frustrating because of the language barrier. I learned that true meaningful connections can form even if people do not speak the same language. A smile and body language goes a long way. Even though I could not verbally express how I felt about the children, I showed them through hugs, kisses and a simple pat on the back. What was more touching for me was when these children showed their love for me by returning these similiar gestures. The teachers were serious about their jobs and were really concerned for the childrens well-being. It was hard saying good-bye and now that I am back home I still think about everyone often, especially the children."

"This was an unforgettable experience, and one that I would not desitate to repeat. The children are amazing, and it has been a challenging and also a fun time. The teachers are friendly and responsive. They welcome feedback and ideas. The head teacher is in the process of developing the skills of other teachers. There is a real potential for development and the growth for three great schools. This has also been a really valuable experience to take home to my own classroom. I have learned alot as a teacher that will be relevant back home.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this time in Bagamoyo and wish I could stay longer! I would recommend it to anyone."

"The hardest thing about this trip was leaving the children behind at the end. It was the sort of challenge I would recommend for anyone who would like to understand other cultures and themselves better.
Whether you have a background in teaching or not, the opportunity is there to work hard and make a real difference. Getting stuck into the task was tough at first but was the best way to get into the community and meet people. The level of integration you can reach simply would not be possible without the task being hard. It is difficult to think of a place where I have felt more welcome."
